Wow, I definitely can’t wait for this. According to the Miami Herald’sScene On The Tropics – Hangover 2 will start filming in Miami come this October. This is amazing news. Not only because its filming in Miami, but because the first movie (released in 2009) was classic and I’m sure that they have something great up their sleeves for the sequel. Turns out they’re still in town doing a little bit of production work for the next month or so. Read below for the full blurb….
The Hangover 2 starts pre-production in Miami
The Hangover’s hilarious Zach Galifianakis had dinner at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink with a group of six last night. Apparently it wasn’t his first time, having been in a few days earlier, dining at the bar with his assistant. Galifianakis, who will host SNL on March 6, wasn’t just lingering from the Super Bowl, either. He’s in town working pre-production of The Hangover 2 for the next four to six weeks. Bradley Cooper swoon alert:production starts in October. At last, an actual comedy being filmed down here as opposed to the comedies of errors to which we’ve grown so accustomed.

As I mentioned a couple times already, the makers of Cocaine Cowboys have a new documentary called The U premiering on ESPN December 12th @ 9PM. Well, tonight they’re having a premiere of the documentary that I am definitely heading out to. Either way, I ran into this review of what the Miami Herald thought of the film to hold you down until you yourself get to watch it. I’ll definitely let you know my review of the film soon as I watch it. Read the Herald review below…
Some sensitive Hurricanes fans surely will not like the rehashing of the trash-talking, the over-the-top celebrations and the off-field scandals that are chronicled in The U, the two-hour University of Miami football documentary airing at 9 p.m. Dec. 12 on ESPN.
But after watching the film, the view here is that filmmakers and former UM students Billy Corben and Alfred Spellman accurately and colorfully capture the program’s glory years — blemishes and all — and strike the right balance between what made UM so dominant and dynamic, and what made it a target for critics.
The film is an enjoyable trip down memory lane, filled with unforgettable game footage, amusing anecdotes and entertaining interviews with more than 30 people who made the program matter.
Corben and Spellman focused mostly on 1983 to 1991 — when UM won four of its five national titles — and allocated only a few minutes to what has happened since. In retrospect, it would have been a good idea if the filmmakers quickly touched on the past few seasons and acknowledged the players’ exemplary conduct in recent years (just one known arrest — Robert Marve — in Randy Shannon’s three years in charge).
Remember, this is not a tribute to UM football. A tribute would only gloss over the negative.
But this is more compelling than a tribute because it gives the full picture of how those teams captured a nation’s attention.
{BallerStatus) - The critically-acclaimed Lil Wayne documentary, “The Carter,” topped iTunes’ movie list last week.
“Having our Lil Wayne ‘The Carter’ documentary place in the Top 10 on both U.S. and Canadian iTunes store within the first 48 hours, competing neck and neck with multi-million dollar studio films, such as ‘Bruno’ and ‘GI Joe’ during Christmas season is quite a feat for a self distributed indie doc and beyond our expectations,” producer QD3 told AllHipHop.com. “We are very excited about continuing to innovate within the digital space.”
Director Adam Bhala Lough and crew followed Weezy around the world for nearly to capture comprehensive and personal interviews with the rapper and provide insights from those that know him best. It dropped on November 17th, a week before Thanksgiving, and has since received rave reviews from major publications. QD3 Entertainment’s “The Carter” is currently available on iTunes for $14.99, or on DVD at Amazon.com.
I had to do a part two of the video I posted earlier. Gil Green, a Miami native is no stranger to anyone in the hip-hop world. He’s one of the most sought after video directors and has orchestrated dozens of videos in just the last year with all kinds of artists from all over the place. But he also took on a more interesting project – the production of a video intro for the 2009-2010 Miami Heat. I posted the video this morning and I could not stop watching it. And then I run into this story in the Sun Sentinel with Gil Green talking about the project and these amazingly dope portraits (click on the thumbnails above to enlarge). Both the video and the portraits have a “BlueNote/1950/Jazz Album Cover” theme. Read below as the Sun Sentinel catches up with Gil….
THe makers of Cocaine Cowboys have a new documentary called “The U” premiering on ESPN December 12th, 2009 at 9PM. Well, here’s the theme song for it recorded by Luke. Listen below

I didn’t even know Rakontur was doing this documentary until this morning. Somewhere along the line, my RSS feed to their site must’ve gotten broken and I lost track of all of their updates. Well apparently, its a new documentary focused on the University of Miami and not necessarily a pretty picture of team’s history either. Well, its premieres locally on December 10th at the Colony Theater and then nationwide on December 12th via ESPN. Read below for more details courtesy of the Miami New Times.
Rakontur’s highly anticipated documentary on University of Miami football, The U, premiers on ESPN on December 12, and this latest bit of news has us even more excited: Uncle Luke has recorded the theme song.
Luther Campbell, The 2 Live Crew rapper, was persona non grata at UM for a decade and a half after admitting to paying players for big plays, and threatening to reveal other secrets about the team. But head coach Randy Shannon, who played when Campbell was a constant sideline presence, quietly welcomed Campbell back into the fold.
We imagine some uptight higher-ups at the school might not be thrilled at the aspect of the As Nasty As They Wanna Be rapper is putting his stamp on the documentary, then again, The U doesn’t promise to be a rainbow filled trip down Hurricane history. That hasn’t stopped the doc from getting an on-campus screening on December 10, a day after the film premieres at Colony Theater.
In the meantime, we’ll continue to stare at the picture of Sebastian the Ibis being slammed up against a fence by police currently featured on Rakontur’s homepage, and wondering if it is perhaps the single, greatest image ever.

SCARFACE (1983) Need we say more? You knew the producers of Cocaine Cowboys were not gonna leave this one out! Shot mostly in Los Angeles, thanks to meddling Miami City Commissioners who did not approve of the portrayal of Cuban immigrants in Oliver Stone’s screenplay, this epic masterpiece spectacularly sums up the deadly, tumultuous early 1980s in South Florida. More fact than fiction, Stone and director Brian DePalma managed to faithfully adapt Howard Hawks’ 1932 gangster classic of the same name and create the ideal time capsule for Miami’s “Paradise Lost” years. – Frank151
Dance Flick Trailer – I just finished watching the trailer (above) and saw that you have DJ Laz’s 2008 local hit, “Move Shake Drop” and Flo-Rida’s “Low” as part of the movie’s soundtrack. The movie looks sorta decent, but I’m always skeptical of any Wayans Brothers film. Its really hit or miss with them. But yeah, should be good to see either way.
