So, this past Saturday marked the official grand opening of Solefly – a new sneaker boutique based out in the South Miami area. The event kicked off at Noon and went on until the early evening. A little bit of rain made things interesting as it was an outside event, but the die-hard sneakerheads (shown above) stood through it. That’s what we call dedication. The event saw a highly sought after exclusive restocking of numerous Silver Anniversary releases – as well as music, and tons of raffles including a few pairs of sneakers and memorabilia signed by Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan himself stopped by the grand opening dressed in “Livestrong” sneakers and attire – and greeted a limited amount of fans and customers. I should have photos of MJ soon, but these are the photos I have so far. Video coming soon as well…click below for the photos…

Allright, so we’ve been waiting for it and finally the official grand opening of Sole Fly sneaker boutique is here. Special guests are expected to come through and expect lots of surprises all day. It goes down Saturday July 10th, 2010 from 12NOON till 9:00PM…address is below:

Air Traffic Control – 1601 Washington Ave., Ste. 114 – Miami Beach, FL 33139
Air Traffic Control is named “Best Local Sneaker Store” by the 2010 Best Of Miami list by the Miami New Times. Here’s what they say:
“…Staying fly means knowing where to find a pair of dope kicks. Check in with the flight navigators at Air Traffic Control, where you’re sure to walk out with sneakers that will allow you to move up the hipsterati social ladder. From iridescent Nike Dunks to patent-leather fluorescent Bathing Apes, ATC stocks designer sneaks for every baller. And you better be balling to shop here, considering prices range from $50 to $1,500 for one pair. Of course, if you need a few extra Benjamins to cover the rent this month, take your unworn sneakers to the shop and sign up for ATC’s consignment program. The store will take care of selling your kicks for an 80-20 split on the sale. You keep the 80 percent…”

When I go to New York this summer, I think I’ma have to create a Bespoke of my own at 21 Mercer. Above are photos of what Mister Cartoon created. Courtesy of SMS.
“This bespoke Air Force 1 created by Mister Cartoon features a mix of materials, from a shiny wild reptilian Swoosh in black, Kevlar on tongue, heel and toe box, with dope premium leather throughout. The Waxed laces and red accents on the tongue tag and outsoles complete the sneaker with a LE look. The Kevlar material is common used in making bullet-proof vests. You can always expect the best from Mister Cartoon…” – SMS

The Nike Air Force 1 “Jones Beach” release. These came out not too long ago but were exclusive to only Long Island stores. So, somebody in Miami (like myself) who wanted these had to work a little bit. I never did get them though. But now there’s a second chance at scoring these since they will be released to a select list of stores nationwide. Stay tuned for release info….they should be dropping this summer.

Set to be released on Saturday May 29, 2010, the Air Jordan IX “Powder Blue Retros” are starting to get a good buzz as one of the better releases so far in 2010. This sneaker isn’t exactly the same as its early-90′s original, but its close enough to get sneakerheads ready to get a couple pairs of these in their collections. They will retails for about $150 and will be available at Jordan account holders online and locally.

Per Portfolio.com, Nike has finally gotten up to sue over 66 Internet domain names that they say are selling counterfeit goods, including mostly what are Nike, Inc related products under domains that used their trademarks as well such as NikeShoesInc.com, NikeObama.com, and Nike-Brand.com to name a few. Here’s an excerpt from the story…
The group estimates that cybersquatting costs brand owners $1 billion a year through diverted Internet traffic, the loss of consumer trust, and expenses related to combating the issue.
Nike’s lawsuit does not seek any financial compensation, though the company argues that the domains—using names such as NikeShoesInc.com, NikeObama.com, and Nike-Brand.com—are being used to sell unlicensed or counterfeit products with the company’s trademarks.
“Through such actions, Nike is irreparably damaged through consumer confusion, dilution, and tarnishment of its valuable trademarks,” the company said in court documents.
Nike filed for relief under the federal Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act passed by Congress in 1999, a law Lodico said doesn’t provide an adequate deterrent for cybersquatters.
The law calls for penalties in the range of $1,000 to $100,000 per infraction. Lodico believes the penalties should be limited to the higher end of that spectrum.

DJ Greg Street’s Sneaker Friends event went down in Atlanta this past weekend. Tons of sneakerheads came through, along with bloggers like Matt Halfhill of NiceKicks, Marcus Troy and others. But Miami was definitely in the building as Rick Ross and his crew mad an appearance, along with Danny from Shoe Gallery. Photos courtesy of NiceKicks.

These release this Saturday, May 1st, 2010. The Silver Anniversary Air Jordan XI’s. They’ll be available at online retailers and local retailers with Jordan accounts.
A little too simple for my taste, but best believe the Cool Grays will be copped when they come out later this year….
