The Sneaker Colouring Book by Henrik Klingel and Daniel Jarosch
Written By DRO | Posted In Art,Books,Sneakers

A coloring book for grown-ups, The Sneaker Coloring Book is a collection of 100 black and white line drawings of popular sneaker designs, shown in side view, to color, alter, or customize. The models featured are 100 of the most popular designs from 1916 to the present day from 18 major brands including Adidas, Converse, New Balance, Nike, Onitsuka Tiger, Puma, Reebok, and Vans. Brand, model name, launch date, and category are listed for each sneaker. The drawings are printed on high-quality drawing paper and the pages are perforated so that a drawing can be removed once completed.

Taking a fun and highly original approach to sneaker culture, the book will appeal to anyone who likes to color and customize their sneakers, to fashion and footwear designers, illustrators, graphic designers and, above all, to the sneaker fanatics who want to own every book about their favorite subject.

About the Author:
Daniel Jarosch and Henrik Klingel set up their design studio, PKNTS, in Berlin in 2006. Their clients include Onitsuka Tiger/Asics, Big Fish Games, the BenQ-Siemens Explore Room, and Messe Frankfurt. Their work has been awarded the Commerzbank Design Prize and the Nike Play Award 2008.

Written By DRO | Posted In Books,Media Watch,Videos

Above is a little quick clip of OchoCinco during his interview and sit-down yesterday with ESPN’s First Take at 12noon yesterday with Skip Bayless – promoting Chad’s new book What Football and Life Have Thrown My Way. The little picture to left of this text is actually the cover of the book which you can click on to enlarge. And lastly, below is a word-word excerpt of his book that is now available at book retailers everywhere (or click here to purchase on Amazon). Read the excerpt below where he actually also name drops Lil Wayne and talks about a couple things in his life and experiences.

From Liberty City to the Letterman Show – Chad OchoCinco recites Dave’s Top Ten
Written By DRO | Posted In Books,Sports,Videos

In promotion of his new book, What Football and Life Have Thrown My Way, Miami’s own Chad OchoCinco (who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals) made his rounds yesterday hitting different mega-media outlets to get his plug on – as shown above on Letterman reciting the all too famous Top Ten list. This cat is seriously one of my favorite celebrities. He always knows how to keep people guessing.

OFFICIALLY COPPED | Kanye’s “Glow In The Dark” book
Written By DRO | Posted In Art,Books

The “VMA incident” is old news now. This is the side of Kanye that we could all appreciate. He always seems to know how to tie himself to real creative side projects and etc. This is no exception. This book, with photographs courtesy of Nabil Eldrekin is really dope. And its officially copped. Preorder for $32 on Amazon, ships on October 20, 2009 and comes with a CD loaded with unreleased instrumentals and interview with Spike Jonze. I just bought my copy. Here’s the description…

“…Are you ready to glow in the dark? Crash landed alone on an unknown planet for the entirety of his Glow in the Dark set with huge space scapes behind him, Kanye West takes you on a musical and visual odyssey that no antihero has taken you on before. This deluxe volume represents another leg of that voyage, giving you a gorgeous photographic ride through West’s life, both on and offstage, as well as into the intimate technologies of his creative process with top visual artists of today. The instrumentals are tracks from his set remastered to echo John Williams’s famous score (“Jesus Walks” is Vader’s theme). In personal sketches and reference imagery, 3-D models of the holodeck-ian stage, and costume designs (including his Grace Jones–inspired outfits for opening act Rihanna), West once again expands a medium and triumphs in the artist’s epic struggle to be creative. With a CD including previously unreleased instrumentals from the show as well as an interview with tour collaborator Spike Jonze, the book is not only a memento of one of the most successful musical performances of the year, but it is also an experience all its own…”

Book: Miami Graffiti by James & Karla Murray
Written By DRO | Posted In Books,Miami Graffiti / Street Art

With this recent “Buk 50″ news hitting the local media, I was reminded about this book that’s coming out in a few months called Miami Graffiti. A documentation of Miami’s graff scene with photos taken by photographers James & Karla Murray.

The Murrays, who have gained recognition for their books Broken Windows and Burning New York, which both have documented the NYC graffiti scenes – have now come together again to do the same for Miami’s graffiti scene. Recently, they have been in Miami, going around the city and photographing every square-inch of graff that has appeared in the city.

I first heard about this book from the homie ABSTRK back in December and I’m glad to finally see that Miami Graffiti is in the final stages of coming to fruition. Its set to release in April and you can pre-order it by clicking here. And according to various websites, James and Karla are set to appear at Books and Books on April 30 to sign copies of the book. Books: Artie Lange – Too Fat to Fish (Amazon Release and Miami New Times Coverage)
Written By DRO | Posted In Books

Artie Lange is one of the funniest guys in show bit’ness. He recently passed by Books & Books in Coral Gables to promote his new book, Too Fat To Fish (click here to purchase). Miami New Times filmed portions of the event for your viewing pleasure. And official reports from the New Times claims that he was sober during this public appearance. Read full details and sypnopsis of the book below (which reached #8 on Amazon’s Best Seller’s list recently):

=======================================

When Artie Lange joined the permanent cast of The Howard Stern Show in 2001, it was possibly the greatest thing ever to happen in the Stern universe, second only to the show’s move to the wild, uncensored frontier of satellite radio. Lange provided what Stern had yet to find all in the same place: a wit quick enough to keep pace with his own, a pathetic self-image to dwarf his own, a personal history both heartbreaking and hilarious, and an ingrained sense of self-sabotage that continually keeps things interesting.

A natural storyteller with a bottomless pit of material, Lange grew up in a close-knit, working-class Italian family in Union, New Jersey, a maniacal Yankees fan who pursued the two things his father said he was cut out for—sports and comedy. Tragically, Artie Lange Sr. never saw the truth in that prediction: He became a quadriplegic in an accident when Artie was eighteen and died soon after. But as with every trial in his life, from his drug addiction to his obesity to his fights with his mother, Artie mines the humor, pathos, and humanity in these events and turns them into comedy classics.

True fans of the Stern Show will find Artie gold in these pages: hilarious tales that couldn’t have happened to anyone else. There are stories from his days driving a Jersey cab, working as a longshoreman in Port Newark, and navigating the dark circuit of stand-up comedy. There are outrageous episodes from the frenzied heights of his coked-up days at MADtv, surprisingly moving stories from his childhood, and an account of his recent U.S.O. tour that is equally stirring and irreverent. But also in this volume are stories Artie’s never told before, including some that he deemed too revealing for radio.

Wild, shocking, and drop-dead hilarious, TOO FAT TO FISH is Artie Lange giving everything he’s got to give. And like a true pro, the man never disappoints.

Book: How To Talk To Girls
Written By DRO | Posted In Books

This kid is ahead of his time. He was 8 years old when he came up with this book and sold it at his school’s book fair for $3. And now, at 9 years old, his book is on its way to become a Hollywood movie. This really shows that anything is possible and to never give up on your dreams. Read full review here.

Comb your hair and don’t wear sweats; control your hyperness and cut down on sugar if necessary; a crush is like a love disease that can drive you mad; it is easy to spot pretty girls because they have big earrings, fancy dresses and all the jewelry but are like cars that need a lot of oil.
