Allright, lots of stuff is happening all over the city. And you know how we do – we have here most of the hip-hop related and more music related type of events that you find going on around the city during the Super Bowl week festivities. Starting from Wednesday, all the way up until the big game on Sunday night. Read the list thoroughly to make sure you don’t miss out on seeing your favorite artists and celebrities. Click below for a detailed breakdown of all five days of events.
Allright, so concerns about the cancellation of the Jungle Island series of concerts – turned out to be justified. Per Jungle Island’s official statement to The305, concerts including Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, Sean Kingston, Maze and Freddie McGreggo – have all been canceled. It seems that the events were canceled, not sure why….but this is exactly what the PR department at Jungle Island said (and reconfirmed at 10:51AM).
Unfortunately, the promoters for the Miami Big Game Extravaganza have not fulfilled their obligations and consequently the events scheduled for February 5-7, 2010 on Jungle Island have been canceled. As always, Jungle Island will be open every day this weekend from 10am until 6pm and will feature all of our animals, shows and exhibits for the public to enjoy.
Jungle Island was in no way involved with the ticket sales for these events. We recommend contacting the company from which the tickets were purchased.
Updates coming shortly, I want to apologize for the lack their of for yesterday (Monday). As well as being a little light a couple days last week. I have had a family member in my immediate family who is very sick, so I’ve been dealing with that and arranging things in place of possibly dealing with the worst case scenarios. All in while trying to keep composure, I been working real hard on multiple projects and photoshoots, including a couple features for The305.com. So please bare with me, I’m a one-man-operation here, so we should get a good stream of new updates shortly in a few hours and I will keep me promise that 2010 will be a great year for the site and for South Florida if I have anything to do with it. Stay tuned and thanks for the support.
My apologies on the late updates today (Tuesday). Updates will take place today around 6:30 PM or so. Sorry for the delay and for the irregular posting schedule, the holidays got me running around all over the place – but we have a lot of updates today in a couple hours and all day tomorrow so stay tuned. Also we’ve put together a year-end feature dubbed the 2009 Best Of The 305 list with our picks among various categories like Best Album Of The Year, Honey Of The Year, Artist Of The Year, Promoter Of The Year and etc. So stay tuned, winners and categories will be posted in the evening of Wednesday December 30th.
First of all hope everybody’s holidays went well. I sure enjoyed mine. Especially the days we had some cold weather down here in the 305. On Tuesday, I should have a listing of most of the new Years parties going down, although most are incredibly overpriced, there are tons of options. Look out for that list tomorrow. Also, the next This Is Dade Volume III coming soon, hopefully within a week or so. Any last minute song submissions must go to mp3@the305.com.
Mixtape Section – I added a new panel on the right column. If you scroll down a bit on the right column of every page you’ll see a new spot I have dedicated to free mixtape downloads. I’ll probably throw like 8 or 9 mixtapes at once and change around every couple weeks. This past week, in case you missed it, make sure you download J. Nic$ and Brianna’s mixtapes. Both are very dope.
And that’s pretty much it. I’m putting together an end-of-the-year post for this Thursday night with a recap of 2009 and a “best of” list of sorts.
So once again, thanks for your continued readership.
Well, The305.com partnered with Shoe Gallery to present a video contest to give away a free pair of highly coveted Air Jordan XI “Space Jams”. We got numerous entries and while most of them showed heart, there was one entry that stood out and was so well put together, that it was almost instantly that we knew we received the winning entry. And funny enough, it was one of the last entries submitted.
The winner was Luc Alexandre (aka UnkleLuc) with the above video. We want to congratulate Luc for the effort and for putting together a great piece. You definitely have a great eye for video. Enjoy your Space Jams!
And on a last note, I want to give a BIG shout out and thank you to Shoe Gallery for teaming up with us on this and for working with us on numerous projects over the last year. I want to send a big congratulations to David Rousseau and the entire CreativeSeen family and to Team Pitbull for their work on Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” video. The video ended up being the most watched music video on Youtube for the entire year of 2009 with 82 Million Views. And the second most watched video on the website overall.
1. Pitbull “I Know You Want Me” (82+ million views)
2. Miley Cyrus “The Climb” (64+ million views)
3. Miley Cyrus “Party in the U.S.A.” (54+ million views)
4. The Lonely Island “I’m On a Boat” (48+ million views)
5. Keri Hilson “Knock You Down” (35+ million views)
In comparison, what topped Pitbull in the “overall” category was Susan Boyle with 120 Million views of her breakout and shocking performance on Britain’s Got Talent.
We here at The305.com have teamed up with Miami sneaker store Shoe Gallery to give you a chance to win your very own pair of one of the most sought after sneakers in a long time – the Air Jordan XI “Space Jams”. We’re looking for those real Jordan fans to enter a video and tell us WHY we should give you this free pair of the Space Jams. Read below for details on how to enter….
I know the above photo has nothing to do with Thanksgiving, but its one of my favorite photos from a photoshoot I did with the lovely Erika Ivette. Either way, Happy Thanksgiving to all reading this. Hope you and your family enjoy yourselves today and all weekend for that matter. As for The305.com, Its been a hell of three days. I am pretty sure that if you frequent The305.com, you may have noticed that the site was either down or tagged as being under a “malware” attack.
Long story short, The305.com was attacked by a malware virus of some sort – actually TWICE in two days. Not sure where it came from but point is, it looks like the worse is over. The forums should be active within the next day or two. I am keeping my eyes open in case something springs back up. But just take notice, that is safe to log on The305.com. Please spread the word that The305.com is back online and that if for whatever reason we are down at any point, its only temporary.
I will definitely resume to normal updates between tonight and tomorrow for Black Friday all day. And remember to head over to Shoe Gallery in Downtown for their 40% Off Everything Black sale. I heard D.A.D.E. wear will have tons of goods as well out there. Click here for details.
Thanks again for continuing to visit the site and thank you for all the support.
Wow, so last night the list leaked of XXL Magazine’sTop 100 Hip Hop Websites and The305.com was listed on there as one of the top 100 sites. There weren’t any rankings for the sites, just a straight top 100 list. I’m definitely honored to even be considered amongst that list with all them other sites, especially being that The305.com is Miami-focused for the most part. I also saw Fakeshoredrive.com on there, which is a Chicago focused site – shouts out to them!
“Since 2002—well before Miami emerged as the muggy residency du jour for moneyed rappers and producers—The305 was documenting the South Florida hip-hop scene. It’s pretty much a men’s-magazine catchall: Content includes MP3s, videos, biddies in bikinis, sneakers and Miami Heat news. Hey, what else matters?” – XXL Magazine
But yeah, over the last year or so, The305.com has grown tremendously and I definitely work hard er’day trying to update as frequently as possible (its literally a full time job that doesn’t pay like one, lol). But I want to thank everybody that checks the site daily, everyone who has supported and copped an ad to support, all the local artists that submit music and a special thanks to all the anonymous comments I get, especially the haters that hate on me with those fake names and IP addresses. Thank you all.

Our question was: What was the name of Triple C’s original album that was supposed to come out in 2007…?
The answer was: Black Flag
There were about 150 qualifying entries. Out of those, 40 or so people got it correct and from there we randomly chose our winner “name-in-the-hat” style.
The winner was Kali Heart of Hallandale, Florida.
Congratulations, you should be receiving your Triple C’s jacket and a copy of Custom, Cars & Cycles very soon.
Triple C’s album Custom, Cars & Cycles is in stores now!!!
Its been a long time coming, but the new PRINT issue of 305 Magazine is coming soon. Its an actual PRINT magazine for those of you that don’t know and never saw it. I used to put these out with a partner of mine – we had Pitbull, Rick Ross and Khaled on the covers (pictured above), with features from dozens of big names as well.
Well, since putting out our last issue (with Khaled on the cover), we had a little hiatus, but…we’re definitely and officially back to put out a new issue. More details will be revealed shortly.
But in the meantime, if you are interested in advertising in the new issue, which will be one of the most sought after issues, please email me at miamihiphop@gmail.com for more information. Trust me, you’re going to want to be a part of it…

This definitely came to me as a shock. Jose Carreras, aka Nasty NES, passed away this past Sunday .
He was an incredible artist, tattoo artist and respected graffiti artist. He had tons of plans and seemed to have been celebrating life to the fullest. He even recently toured with Birdman and became Birdman’s official tattoo artist. Its crazy because it seems like Jose was at the prime of his life and on top of his game.
Personally, I got a chance to work on a photoshoot with Jose and the crew of Ocho Placas for a story we did in 305 Magazine a couple years back…and he was one of the biggest supporters, if not THE biggest supporter of what we were doing with 305 Magazine. And I’ll be forever grateful for that.
My condolences to all of Jose’s family members, his wife, his children, his friends and everybody affected by this unfortunate loss. You will definitely be missed Jose. Rest in peace.
Jose’s viewing is today at Bernardo Garcia funeral home off 8215 SW 40th Street Miami, Florida 33155 at 5PM. And per his mother’s request – “please try not to wear black, instead, please be yourself and be colorful since that is what JOSE was all about!”
And to see a website that his family put together in honor of Jose’s life go to www.joseluiscarrera.com.
Allright, we’re putting in another call for local South Florida artists to submit their music. Yeah we get tons of emails with artists from all over the place, but most of it is spam messages and artists that aren’t from the South Florida area. We need to hear more local music so we could feature more of it. That’s what this site was originally created for and we want to continue that original plan. Doesn’t matter the genre either, hip-hop, rock, r&b, latin, alternative, etc. Just send it over. So if you think you have a dope product, a dope song, a dope mixtape, send all of your work to our dedicated email address at mp3@the305.com. The only requirement is that you MUST put “The305.com” in the subject line to even be considered. The reason for this is to make sure you’re an individual sending the email and not some mass-email campaign. Thanks and we look froward to your submissions.
First of all I wanna thank everyone who I’ve worked with over the past year to make The305.com such a great success. I don’t want to name any names in fear of leaving somebody out, but you know who you are – I appreciate your help and support. And a big thank you to all the readers because without ya’ll, all of this is pointless. The305.com is going strong and will keep going strong for hopefully, many years to come. Representing Miami to the fullest – we’re happy that we were able to named Best Local Website in the Miami New Times readers poll…and we’re also happy that we got a little love in MTV’s Miami Week special a couple months back. With that, I wanted to make a couple announcements.
1) We’re growing The305.com’s umbrella of companies. Recently we acquired the rights to the name and domain, SneakerTalk.com. If you’ve followed The305.com in the past year, you might’ve noticed the occasional posting of a sneaker related article here and there. Well, we thought that taking it a step further and making a site dedicated to the sneaker culture would be the eventual next step. And I know what you’re thinking, ‘aren’t there already tons of sneaker sites out there?” The answer is yes. But trust me, when things get 100-percent set up, we’re going to take sneaker journalism and coverage to another level. In the meantime, check out the site as it’ll be updated daily at the same as its being finished, so go to www.sneakertalk.com right now and get a preview of what’s to come.
2) And lastly, I just wanted to let you all know that the “famed” 2009 edition of The305.comBBQ will officially go down in the first week of November. Its narrowed down to the weekend of November 7, 2009. Trying to decide between Saturday or Sunday. And I know its a whole three months away, but I just want to make sure its planned right and done right. More details coming soon, but keep that weekend in mind in your plans. It will be a great networking event and great spot for FREE FOOD!!
Well, to celebrate K. Foxx’s departure from the 305, we just wanted to post this throwback photo from her in The Source from a few years back. She said this is the photo that inspired the concept behind her “I Am Every Woman” calendar. Either way, come celebrate with K. Foxx and friends at her official Going Away party at Club B.E.D. on Saturday night, August 1st.
Fabolous has been a mainstay in hip-hop over the past decade and has put out hit after hit after hit. Well, its 2009, and Fabolous is living up to his previous track record by recently releasing Loso’s Way, his fifth studio album on Def Jam Records. Well, we’re trying to give a lucky reader a chance to win a copy of Loso’ Way – courtesy of Lex Promotions and LexPromotions.com. The winner will be chosen by being the THIRD person who can correctly email us the answer to the following question…
What was the name of Fabolous’ first song that got its first major placement on a national release…AND…what was the name of the album it was placed on? Hint: It wasn’t the song with Nate Dogg
Please send the answer along with your mailing address to miamihiphop@gmail.com
And not to fear if you don’t win the Fabolous CD because there will consolation prizes as well courtesy of Lex Promotions.
Sorry for the lack of updates the past couple days, including today. And there’s a good reason though. Been working on this big announcement for The305.com that we will make on Monday August 3, 2009 @ 9AM. So bare with us, Normal updates should resume later this evening. Thanks for the continued support…
