De La Soul Successfully Fund Their New Album Via Kickstarter and surpass goals by over $500,000

On March 30th, 2015, we received an email from De La Soul’s fan newsletter blast asking their fans to help with the pre-sales of their new album and the Anonymous Nobody. I’ve always enjoyed the occasional dose of De La Soul from iTunes, and since Maseo was a South Florida mainstay for a few years it was a little more natural.

Either way,  so the email stated that they were starting a Kickstarter to help with the launch of the album and had a target of $110,000 to make all of it come to life. Well, the hip-hop community answered their cause and helped them reach a whoppin’ muhfuggin’ $600,875 by 11,169 backers, also making it the second most funded music project in Kickstarter’s history.

“Thank you so much to all of you for rewarding us with your time and help!! We have not only become the second most funded music project on Kickstarter, but we have also gained a clearer insight into how you feel about us as a group and what we do. You have helped directly play a part in giving us the much needed creative fuel by showing that we still matter to all of you! In knowing that we feel nothing less than number 1!!! Much love and this music is coming your way soon!! ‪#‎thankyou‬ ‪#‎blessed‬ ‪#‎delasoul‬”

Dopeness. Congrats to them. Some of the guest features of the album will include: Damon Albarn, David Byrne, 2 Chainz, and Little Dragon. 2 Chainz and some De La huh? Interesting to say the least.
