I used to have nightmares about el “chacal”…you know, the dude with the black costume that plays the trumpet during the talent portions of the show.
Either way, Sabado Gigante will officially finish its run later this year after embarking what is the longest run for a variety series on television. The show, which if you’re of hispanic decent, is most likely one of those staples that your grandparents and maybe parents held onto for Saturday nights since as long as you can remember. The show has been running for 53 years and the official final send-off will be September 19, 2015. .
Tomorrow night….Don Francisco (or known to some by his government name Mario Kreutzberger) will address the show’s end, but let it be known that the spry 74-year-old will still hang on at Univison to host other specials and campaigns.
So enjoy the next 4-5 months of Sabado Gigante because it will be sent to broadcast heaven after September.
