One of the pioneer hip-hop blog sites KevinNottingham.com (which is based in Miami), has recently announced that it will be going on a “hopeful” short hiatus to reassess and relaunch the site in the future. In this day of selfies and social media, the web industry and blogging industry (and hip hop blogging industry) isn’t as easy as it once was to survive. Even here at The305.com, we find it hard to stay motivated to try and keep pushing forward with new content and new posts because often times, it fails to get appreciated. But we definitely wish Kevin and his staff/contributors luck in relaunching with a new and refreshed vision and motivation. Here’s Kevin’s message that was posted on New Year’s Day…
In June 2007, a new website by an unknown hip hop fan was born. KevinNottingham.com, while new to the game, showed promise as it stayed true to hip hop culture and rapidly grew an online fanbase. Over the course of the past 7 1/2 years, KevinNottingham.com has won countless awards and has been recognized by prestigious media outlets and artists alike.
Today, I’d like to announce that we have reached the end of an era. Today, January 1 2015, KevinNottingham.com will go on a hiatus for the first time in 7 1/2 years. The hip hop blogging industry has drastically changed over the past few years. And while we’ve had our good times and bad times, we’ve tried our best to keep up. But it’s not the same anymore. KevinNottingham.com used to pride ourselves in original content. There was a time when we were passionate about what we did. Things have changed.
So today we close our doors in an effort to take the site in a new direction… something new and exciting; something other than just posting new music everyday. Something different.
While our staff regroups to plan for our future, we invite you to visit the site’s archives. Access to our past articles will be available; however, no new content will be posted during our hiatus. We haven’t set a relaunch date, but you will know when we return.
We’d also like to thank all of our readers who have stayed with us over the years, as well as past contributors and artists we’ve featured. We hope you all return when we relaunch!
– Kevin Nottingham
Looking forward to the relaunch.
