HISTORY: For fifteen summers, The Mourning Family Foundation (formerly Alonzo Mourning Charities) produced Zo’s Summer Groove, a one-week fundraising event that raised more than $10 million dollars during its tenure. The crown jewel of these fundraising efforts, the Overtown Youth Center (OYC), serves over 700 students ranging from ages 8 to 25 that reside in South Florida and attend school in and around the Overtown community. Also in the MFF fold is Tracy Mourning’s Honey Shine Mentoring Foundation for Girls, which encourages the balance of mind, body and soul in girls and women by providing nurturing experiences that enlighten their paths and empower their future.
