Croquetapalooza 2014 has come and gone. The event dedicated to feeding its guests with an endless amount of croquetas was a success for Burger Beast, the judges, participants and sponsors. It was a packed house with a variety of croquetas and croqueta-inspired dishes. And according to Burger Beast himself, over 10,000 croquetas were served, 3,000 flans were made and over 500 batidos were consumed.
There were three competitions. Miami Springs’ Mayor Zavier Garcia won the Catalina Croqueta Eating Contest. Fireman Derek’s Bakeshop won the Best Flan. And by the vote of over 450 attendees, they chose Barley & Swine’s Jamon Serrano & Manchego Croqueta as the Best Croqueta In Show (lol). And its a bit bittersweet since Barley & Swine was forced to close and reopen as Barley & Wich (a sandwich shop), but they ‘ll definitely keep the same culinary IQ we’re sure.
Such a great event. Thanks to Burger Beast for having us. On to next year!
