Ever wanted more variety in music during that 5 o’clock traffic jam? Well Miami’s answer t0 that problem has arrived. Shake 108 FM (which is actually 107.9 FM) is Miami’s newest radio station and hopes to bring not only a variety of songs to your antennas, but also the sounds of up and coming local artists.
Peter Stebbins looked to create this low power station in order to add a different mix to the air, one that can get repetitive over time. He’s currently playing top favorite songs, suggestions of songs to play and songs from local artists. Don’t expect this station to be stuck on one genre of music either, as one minute you’re listening to Luke Bryant and the next minute you’re jammin’ to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The station can be heard in these current neighborhoods: Downtown Miami, Wynwood, Little Havana, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables and Brickell. Soon though, it will be able to be heard in all of Dade County if all things move according to plan. Definitely add this one to your FM presets and follow Shake 108 on Twitter @Shake108FM to find out how you can donate and be involved to ensure the station is live for many years to come.
And definitely read the interview with Peter over at the New Times as its definitely an interesting one on how this all came about.
