Frankie’s Pizza is a staple in the #souwesera area of Miami located on SW 40th Street and about SW 91st Avenue. We’ve heard about Frankie’s for years but never tried it until recently after seeing a little extra traction on social media and via the Fashion Poet’s recent photoshoot.
So we decided to see what all the hype was about and we were really surprised. Not only surprised on the great taste of the pizza, but of the history of Frankie’s Pizza.
Being a part of the community since 1955, they’re celebrating their 59th year in business and there’s even links and purchase opportunities for a historic documentary on Frankie’s Pizza (see the photo below for more info). The exterior signage and interior set-up stays true to their vintage roots; even down to the vintage Coca-Cola napkin holders and salt-n-pepper shakers.
But now, down to the pizza. The pizza slices are a bit unique since they are nicely cut squares at approximately 5×5 inches. The taste though is very crispy and very much saucy. Also unique are the toppings which include these tiny little pepperoni slices and these huge sausage portions on each slice. Both pictured below. And then the thing that we liked most was the PRICE. Starting at $1.40 for a tomato sauce and cheese and $1.60 for a one topping, the price is not only affordable but encourages portion control as well. And for those that always have a sugar fix after a slice, you have freshly baked brownies or a choice of old-fashion crispy critter mini chocolate chip cookies.
All in all, Frankie’s is a great little gem in the SW Miami Dade area near Bird Road and you should definitely take a pit stop there next time you’re in the area. Just note that they are closed on Mondays.
