Burger King In Talks To Buy Tim Hortons and May Move Corporate Structure To Ontario, Canada
Long gone are the days of Burger King and their waterfront property in Palmetto Bay. Since moving from that Old Cutler Road surrounded campus, they’ve established themselves in the Blue Lagoon area of Miami near the airport…more specifically near NW 57th Avenue and the Dolphin Expressway.
Well, Burger King just announced that they are in discussions to purchase Tim Hortons, which is Canada’s biggest donut and coffee chain store. The issue at hand is that if the acquisition does move forward, BK might take their flame-broiled talents to Canada and relocate their corporate structure across the border to Ontario. Merger talks were first reported by The Wall Street Journal.
On the leak of the news, Burger King shares were up as high as 23% this morning, as were TIm Hortons shares.
The new “merged” company would have 18,000 restaurants in 100 countries with about $22 billion in sales, which would make it the world’s third-largest fast-food restaurant company.
