Dominican Artist Who Smashed The Ai Weiwei Vase at the PAMM Gets Probation & Must Pay $10,000

So remember that artist that smashed that vase in the Perez Art Museum Miami in Downtown Miami that was created by the artist that also smashes vases.

Well, Maximo Caminero, a 51-year-old artist from the Dominican Republic, has pleaded guilty for smashing a vase by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei will be on probation for 18 months and serve 100 hours of community service by teaching children how to paint. Mr. Caminero will pay a restitution of $10,000, the appraised value of the vase he dropped on the floor of the PAMM. This guilty plea will avoid Mr. Caminero from spending anymore time in jail aside from the two days he already served and the max five years that these charges commended.

“I was wrong,” Mr. Caminero wrote in a letter to Judge Maria Elena Verde of Miami-Dade Circuit Court, which he read aloud in court. “I think about what I did every day, and I find it hard to live with what I did because it still haunts me.”

Let that be to a lesson to all you Banksy wannabees out there.
