Over the weekend (which extended into Monday night), we finally had the chance to cycle through the newest free release from Dub Gang’s Rell Burgundy and producer The Pyrvmids with their Burgundy EP, which is compacted quite nicely into seven flourishing tracks. We provided coverage on Rell Burgundy in the past, but this project seems to be a tad bit more empowering than what we’ve previously seen.
Not that we weren’t delivered material with wholesome substance before, but The Pyrvmids has supplied a tender, often reflective musical backdrop all the way through the Burgundy EP that complements Rell’s rather heavy vocals strikingly. The vociferous sounds (best heard on “Gameboy Advanced”) found within some of these tracks strokes high notes in tactical spaces that not only maintains the cohesiveness of this EP, but also provides a balance that even a casual fan of hip-hop would find engaging.
The features from Ransooo, Philo B and Terry2Dope are all tasteful additions, as all three South Florida acts have remarkable chemistry with Rell. The Burgundy EP clocks in at less than thirty minutes, so listeners will be able to give this project a considerable amount of plays before the summer is officially over (and well beyond, of course). There is much to look forward to in Miami’s music scene, so let us celebrate yet another new milestone with the full stream of the Burgundy EP down below.
