Miami, FL (Wednesday, July 9, 2014) – Global music icon, Armando Christian Perez also known as Pitbull and fellow Miami native, visual artist Alexander Mijares, announced today the launch of the official artwork for “We Are One (Ole Ola).” Mijares’ piece, titled “We Are One,” was inspired by Pitbull’s celebrated anthem and reflects the song’s vibrancy, Brazilian flair and theme of unity.
The original piece, on a 32” x 32” canvas and signed by Pitbull and Mijares, and 20 giclees (24”x30”) will be sold in a charity auction between July 9th and July 19th on eBay with 100% of the proceeds benefiting TECHO Brasil, a youth-led, non-profit organization with a presence in Latin America and the Caribbean that seeks to alleviate poverty through the joint effort of those affected and youth volunteers. In addition, Pitbull and Mijares are now offering official limited edition merchandise for purchase on shoppitbull.com. Consumers from all over the world who purchase the limited edition t-shirts and totes dawning the “We Are One” piece will benefit TECHO Brasil.
As a philanthropist at heart, Alexander Mijares expressed his overwhelming gratitude for being a part of this international project. Mijares says, “I am beyond thrilled to be the chosen artist for this amazing song’s official artwork. My piece, “We Are One,” was inspired by the colorful energy and all-embracing theme of “We Are One (Ole Ola),” as well as my personal visit to Brazil last year. I remember painting in a Rio favela and being able to see the Cristo looking down on me as I worked. This very spiritual moment is something that I will never forget as long as I live.”
The auction is now live at http://app.causemediagroup.com/review/load_newpage/243/369/8616.
