Uber Competitor LYFT, Launches Civilian Car Service In Miami To Positive Reviews & Controversy Of Course

Uber competitor LYFT finally makes its way to Miami. In short, its a service/app that allows you to request a ride that will be provided by a fellow Miamian that is registered with Lyft and also has a pink mustache in an identifiable place on their vehicle. Versus Uber, that similarly uses an app, but requires professional drivers. In both cases, prices are notoriously cheaper than an actual taxi or private car service.

So far, many riders seem to fire back with positive reviews after using it. But many opponents of the service say that taxi drivers and pro drivers take courses and acquire licenses for the protection of the public and that LYFT is putting the public in danger and in the mercy of civilian drivers.

Well, its a coin toss really. But here’s how it works…

How It Works:

Lyft is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Next time you find yourself needing a ride in the 305, don’t sweat it. Your new friend with a car has arrived. Starting tonight at 7pm local time, Lyft will be live in Miami, bringing friendly and affordable rides to both residents and visitors and making it easier than ever to take advantage of all Miami has to offer.

With bright dispositions to match its sunny weather, Miami and its vibrant community have proven a perfect match for Lyft. What’s more, Lyft can help Miamians avoid parking and transportation stresses, as they can now leave their cars at home for a morning workout class, daytime lunch meeting, or night on the town.

Among Miami’s awesome group of founding drivers you’ll find a novelist, a fashion designer and softball world series participant, all ready to embrace the ridesharing movement. You can take a Lyft downtown for work, to the parties in South Beach, or to Wynwood for the latest art gallery opening. To see where else Lyft will take you, visit the Miami city page for a full coverage map.

Every new user receives a full two weeks of free rides thanks to the Lyft Pioneer program, so whether you’re a resident or planning the ultimate South Florida vacation, be sure to download the app and start experiencing Lyft today!
