Local “Artist” Smashes Million-Dollar Ai Weiwei Vase At The PAMM In Protest

Maximo Caminero, 51, is a local artist and in protest of the PAMM not being so kind to local Miami artists, he picked up the vase belonging to Ai Weiwei exhibit on Sunday and dropped it. It was smashed into smithereens as you can imagine. The vase is said to be thousands of years old, but the irony is that Ai Weiwei ‘s exhibit is adorned with huge photograph of the artist himself basically doing the same thing….smashin’ 5,000 year old vases.

The protesting artist was apprehended and charged with one count of criminal mischief.

“Marketing is pushing artists to do things that they never expected to do before,” said Ramon Williams, Caminero’s colleague. “He’s not the first and he won’t be the last to do something like that, which maybe is not politically correct because it’s not in favor of the artist.”
