Starting Saturday, February 1st a new free trolley system will loop up-and-down West Avenue and Alton Road as an incentive for residents to leave their cars at home.
In an effort to improve access to the businesses along Alton Road and West Avenue during the FDOT construction, the City of Miami Beach launches a new, free trolley transportation service for Alton Road and West Avenue on Monday that will operate through the end of construction in 2015.
The Alton/West Loop trolleys will travel from Fifth Street to Lincoln Road, along Alton Road and West Avenue, with 20 stops along the way. The free service will run approximately every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Sunday. The trolley has a capacity of 25 passengers and has an external bike rack and free WiFi (coming soon).
The trolley service is accessible from several parking facilities along the way. The public is encouraged to park the Fifth & Alton Garage, where parking will be free for up to four hours with the use of the trolley voucher.
Also, a pilot valet parking service will begin soon on 11 Street between Alton Road and West Avenue at $5.00 for up to three hours and $8.00 for up to six hours.
