Miami will get its first tunnel when the Port Of Miami Tunnel opens up in May. The tunnel will connect Dodge Island, where the Port of Miami is located, to Watson Island. The tunnel is less a mile long and is 120 feet below sea level at its deepest. There will be an eastbound tube, and a westbound tube – each carrying two lanes of traffic.
Below are two maps that show the tunnel’s location, as well as some pretty awesome construction photos courtesy of WLPG.
