While Sports Grill’s “special grilled” wings have won award after award and we’d agree 9 times out of 10 with them being the best – but my last few orders of special grilled wings have come back burn’t to a crisp and have ruined a birthday party and borderline ruined a huge family get together just last week even. So they’re on the naughty list this year.
We wanted to do something different this year either way and include more “gourmet” tiered wings in this category. So with that being said, Sakaya Kitchen’s Korean Fried Chicken Wings are simply out of this world. Sakaya Kitchen has become a neighborhood [and South Florida] favorite since opening a few years back. A Korean inspired fusion restaurant that has some traditional Korean flavors and ingredients mixed with some items that hamburger-lovin’ ‘Merica tends to crave. And while Sakaya’s KFC wings (no relation to Kentucky Fried Chicken) are a little pricey at a $1 or so per wing, their taste is very unique due to the double frying and soaking of the wings in a trademark ginger sauce. And if you’re smart, you’d get a few extra cups of that sauce and drizzle it on top of the wings as you see fit. Its all in the sauce.
The good news is that not only can you get these wings at both locations (Downtown and Midtown), you can also get them from their Dim Ssam A Gogo Food Truck at food truck rallies and such. Be open minded and give them a try…like now.
