Miami-based Burger King Corp has introduced its new burger; the Big King. An obvious play at taking on the Big Mac, the new burger is actually not quite new as it was originally introduced back in 1997. But its been resurrected over 16 years later for a new generation. And if you want to go even further back, McDonald’s didn’t really create the Big Mac format, it was actually the idea of Bob’s Big Boy Restaurants back in 1937. Mickey D’s then just pretty much jacked the concept thirty years later in 1967 and the rest is history.
Now as far as the Burger King version. Its fast food, so lets be real – its not a gourmet burger by any means. The special sauce is actual Thousand Island dressing and the patties are flame broiled. So it taste and feels noticeably different from its McDonald’s counterpart and maybe that’s where it fails. If you’re going to copy the big mac, then just do it or just don’t do it at all. So this gets a 2 stars out of 5 in our non-existent fast food rating system (lol).
But you can get the Big King Burger now at all South Florida BK locations for just under $4.00.
