UPDATE: Miami New Times confirms that these tiles are fake and Banksy “inspired” and are actually called “Bansky” tiles, a misspelling of the artists’ name. Click here to read the full encounter.
The Riviera South Beach Hotel has just opened up and has caught a little hype with its Banksy designed tiles that are featured in some of the hotels public areas and guest bathrooms. While its not as crazy as his works that have been popping up in New York City the past month, its still pretty cool to see if you’re a fan of the artist. The guestrooms in this entirely new building (the first of its kind for the South Beach Hotel Group) are described as “contemporary chic meets modern industrialism.” True to that, the rooms feature chrome balconies and concrete ceilings which are softened by post-modern leather furniture, polished wooden floors and silk draperies. Amenities also include Tempurpedic pillow-top custom beds, oversized bathrooms with rainfall showers, 42″ flat-screen TVs, bathrobes, slippers and C.O. Bigelow toiletries. Oh and we can’t forget about the free WiFi. But perhaps more exciting than having new rooms to lounge around in is the artistic touch of British street artist, Banksy, who signature surrealism and larger-then-life abstract artwork is featured on the tiling in some of the public spaces and bathrooms. A night at the Riviera South Beach right now is just $188 for a classic room or $216 for the sleek balcony rooms in the new addition.
