After about three years of waiting for a verdict and years of self-imposed bowl bans, the NCAA has finally come down with their decision of how to penalize the University Of Miami for the whole Nevin Shapiro scandal. UM football will lose a total of nine scholarships over the next three years, but they will not receive a bowl ban. UM basketball will lose three scholarships, also over the next three years. Former were also named and to be penalized. All the self-imposed penalties were also considered in the NCAA’s decision.
UM officials have 15 days to appeal, but it looks like that won’t be happening.
So now, the school and the sports programs finally have their freedom back and put this dragged out ordeal behind them.
