Eating House popped up in the beginning of 2012 with Chopped winner Giorgio Rapicavoli running the kitchen. Beside him was longtime friend Alex Cassanova. The two quickly proved they were a pair to be watched. Almost two years later, the restaurant’s been renovated and gone from being a pop up to being a permanent staple in the Miami dining scene. One doesn’t need to wonder why that is – hip-hop plays while you eat chicken and waffles drenched in a spicy ranch sauce (licking your fingers here is perfectly acceptable), the staff has the same if not more fun than its guests, and they have jaunty happenings like their Sunday brunch dubbed “wakin’-n-bacon” and special 420 Menu. Maybe this is why the staff has more fun than the eaters.
If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and go. Go for dinner (get the pasta carbonara, chicken & waffles, brussel sprouts & whipped gazpacho), go for brunch (get the Captain Crunch pancakes, torrejas and breakfast 2.0), or go for lunch. The restaurant just started offering lunch service last week.
So what’s on the menu? No Captain Crunch pancakes, but really, who eats that for weekday lunch unless you’re wakin’-n-bacon, like, everyday. Instead, there’s broccoli cheesesteak, Giorgio’s take on a Philly cheesesteak. Be warned: there is no steak in this sandwich, just broccoli. But don’t worry, you won’t miss meat for once. There’s also chilled corn soup with cotija cheese and lime. And a proper sausage, cause we all know inappropriate sausages are a no no, especially when it’s going in your mouth. Paired with roasted onion, chimichurri, and bbq potato sticks, this is one hard sausage. It will have you saying WTF. Be careful, because that’s the cue for the cookies. The WTF cookies, which are as puffy as you after Eating at Rapicavoli’s House.
