Well, it was a year ago since we introduced you guys to Car2Go and since then, things have definitely taken off. The service has recruited over 16,000 members in the City of Miami using their 240 vehicles. That makes Miami as one of the top cities of usage for Car2Go in comparison to other cities like Washington D.C., Austin, San Diego, London and more.
Miami’s car-sharing program, car2go North America, registered 16,000 people in its first year, the company announced Thursday.
The service is like a short-term rental; vehicles are available in a 25-square-mile area.
Car2Go is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler North America Corp.
According to a news release, typical trips in Miami last between 20 and 30 minutes.
The service has about 240 vehicles – small two-seater Smart cars painted blue and white.
Over the past year, the company contracted satellite parking locations in Miami Beach, North Bay Village and a parking garage in South Miami near The Shops at Sunset Place.
Car2Go is also in talks to expand to further sections of Miami so stay tuned and follow them on Facebook. And in case you forgot about the prices, its typically $.38 cents per minute, $13.99 per hour and roughly a max of $72.99 per day.
