A new condominium building in the works can possibly include a Smart Car when a buyer purchases a condo at the Brickell location. The developer, Santiago Vanegas, proposed this due to wanting to limit the parking they have to provide. Even though it is not confirmed as to whether it will happen, they are proposing 20 normal-sized parking spaces, which can fit 40 Smart Cars. If it does become a reality to offer the Smart Car to buyers, it is not required to buy one. Vanegas says that not everybody will want the Smart Car. An option that Vanegas plans on offering if it doesn’t work out is to install a lift system that would stack cars vertically. There are also plans to incorporate a station for car sharing, such as ZipCar or Car2Go, which have become very popular in the Downtown and Wynwood area. According to Vanegas, other amenities that the condo might offer are iPods, innovative appliances and “smart” gadgets that will control heating, cooling and electrical systems. The 190-unit building remains unnamed and will be LEED Gold certified. It will be located in 1775 SW Third Ave. in West Brickell a year from now.
“The idea is that we can include one car in the sales price of $200,000 to $250,000, install intelligent fixtures and give them a smart kitchen,” Mr. Vanegas said. “The Smart Car comes in five colors, and the kitchen counters will be offered in those five colors. It’s very attractive for the price, and I think it could succeed.” – Miami Today
