Special shout out to the Heat for sending the poster over to us last week. These will be given out tonight at the Heat’s game against the Knicks. We posted a sneak peak on Instagram last week and like we said, what caught our eye was the AMAZING photography by team photographer, David Alvarez of Trick Productions. David recently answered a couple questions over at TIP OFF, discussing the creation and behind the scenes of the poster’s creation along with 50 Eggs’ Manny Fabian.
TIPOFF: What was the inspiration for the poster?
David Alvarez: This year we wanted to show our players as the extraordinary athletes that they are. We took away the shades, suits, and dress shoes and brought things back to basics—just the player in his element.
TIPOFF: What was the best part of creating this poster, Manny?
Manny Fabian: It’s always a blast to shoot the players, but this year they really got into it when we showed them what the finished product was going to look like. I also enjoyed being able to use the Arena as a backdrop for all of the photos. David was able to get some really great shots of the players in their natural environment.
TIPOFF: What was the best part of creating the poster for you, David?
DA: I think it was being able to show the players in areas that they consider home but places that many people don’t get to see, like the locker room, inside Gatorade Championship Alley, etc.
TIPOFF: What do you think is the best part about this format?
MF: The great thing about this format is that it’s like fans are getting a few posters in one. At about 20”x20,” you can take it apart and have your favorite players framed.
TIPOFF: What do you think of the final product?
DA: This is by far the best poster that I’ve shot, but I think it’s the best I’ve seen in general, too. No one else is doing anything on this scale. The players are larger-than-life, and now, so is the poster. I hope our fans are as excited about this poster as I am!
