2012 Non-Hip-Hop Project Of The Year – Cris Cab – Echo Boom

Cris Cab has broken into the music world capturing young girls hearts, but also impressing music lovers as well. His Cuban heritage streamlined with his Reggae and Island influences creates this unique sound that could only come from The 305. He’s one of our favorite artists and the fact that he has co-signs by numerous big players in the game just makes us that much more excited to see what the future has in store for him.

In the early part of 2012, Cris released Echo Boom, and while it had the sound and feel of an album, it came to us within the format of a mixtape. Sponsored by Billionaire Boys Club and laced with a snippet or two, it took it away from the album category. But Echo Boom was trademark Cris Cab, and it took him touring the U.S. singing some of the standout songs, including buzz-worthy “Rihanna’s Gun”.

And while Cris did release more official releases like his RISE EP (that featured the “Good Girls Remix” with Big Sean), and a live album, Echo Boom was just an authentic and raw taste of what Cris Cab the artist has in store for us in the future. Plus, the cover is pretty bad ass as well.
