Today, the Miami Marlins have finally done what they were expected to do and fired controversial manager Ozzie Guillen after just one season.
After making big acquisitions and showing a bit of promise at the beginning of their inaugural season as the “Miami” Marlins, all that came crashing down after the lack of team chemistry, lack of leadership, and tons of controversy from Guillen on a consistent basis. The Marlins finished with a record of 69-93 and placed last in the NL East.
“After careful consideration following the disappointment of the 2012 season, we decided to dismiss Ozzie,” Marlins president Larry Beinfest said. “Our managerial search begins immediately and our hope is that a new manager, along with roster improvements, will restore a winning culture.”
