Rockie Fresh signs to Maybach Music

The Untouchable Maybach Music Empire has added another hard working artist to their power lineup. Rockie Fresh, a native from Chicago Illinois, signed with Maybach Music Group in July of 2012 and recently discussed with SOHH.com his career plans and reasons for signing with MMG. Rockie Fresh told SOHH.com that he admired what his predecessors, especially those in Chicago (Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco), did for his generation when he was a youth. He noted the Chicago pioneers, and the likes of Jay-Z as well as Rick Ross for giving him the pros and cons of various decisions in life. Rockie expressed his aspirations to reach his generation with similar intentions as his predecessors. In addition, Rockie wanted to be on a platform where he can reach the masses.

Rockie Fresh considered signing to a major label in the near future, under the right conditions, but never saw himself getting signed by another rapper. However, Rockie’s relationship with Rick Ross was organic from the start and Rockie Fresh explained with SOHH.com what recently attracted the Chi-Town representative to Rick Ross’ efforts. “Just the way Ross came to the situation, his appreciation for [my mixtape] Driving 88, it was just a smart move for me to collaborate my plans and my business mind with his,” Rockie told SOHH. “That’s why I did the move.”

Rockie Fresh also told SOHH that it was an honor to get a call from Rick Ross and Diddy, who both were interested in taking meetings with the hip-hop artist earlier this year. Rockie Fresh felt MMG would be a great opportunity to become a part of a new movement that had the potential to have the same long-run as Diddy’s Bad Boy records.
