Plans for a new cable network in Miami will be announced to the public by Governor Rick Scott this week. Univision and ABC will create a new cable network in Miami through a joint venture that is projected to create 350 jobs.
The partnership will spend $275 million on the network. The move will consist of a new studio being built in the city of Miami, most likely near its headquarters in Doral, and a revamping opportunity to create English-language content for the Hispanic and Non-Hispanic demographic . As CBS4 Miami reports, the assistance of English-language content will help keep Hispanics who don’t speak Spanish informed and keep Non-Hispanics informed with the Hispanic culture and influences.
As Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado reported to the Miami Herald, “if there is a place to put a 24 hour network for Hispanics, it’s Miami.” The network is expected to be ready for live broadcasting in the summer of 2013.
