Named “Best Art-House Cinema” by the Miami New Times, the O Cinema will be opening a new location in Miami Shores in October. The former 330 seat PlayGround Theatre at 9806 NE Second Ave will now be the new O Cinema at MTC and will show films from Thursday through Sunday.
The historical theater house will be shared between Miami Theater Center and O Cinema. Theater fans will still be able to attend live theatrical performances as they’ve been able to since 1946. “We’re thrilled to be working with the Miami Theater Center,” O Cinema co-founder and Cultist contributor Kareem Tabsch said. “Stephanie Ansin and Elaiza Irizary are amazing people who have built the region’s greatest children’s theater. It’s awesome to work with people who share our vision and dedication to the growth of Miami’s cultural community. It’s a new era for the performing and cinematic arts in Miami.”
