Cuban Sandwich #4 – Morro Castle

Preface: After Tampa has been on the move to declare the “Cuban Sandwich” as the official and signature sandwich of their city, many foodies have been on the defense to rally against Tampa’s version of the Cuban Sandwich, which in some variations include mayonnaise and salami (wtf?). So we decided to make this past week Cuban Sandwich Week here on The305. Here’s Cuban Sandwich #4….

Numero Quatro. The Cuban Sandwich at Morro Castle. Morro Castle has two locations, one in Miami and one in Hialeah. They have a pretty standard Cuban Cafeteria type menu with the dope batidas and pan con bistec. But we were there for one purpose, and one purpose only…to get reacquainted with their Cuban Sandwich. And out of all of the sandwiches we tried this week, this one was the biggest in size (pause). For about $5.50, you pretty much get a 2-for-1 that feeds two people. And for about a dollar less at $4.00, you can get a smaller size which is about 3/4th’s of the large. But overall, it was definitely filling and just right if you’re looking for a quick meal.
