Preface: After Tampa has been on the move to declare the “Cuban Sandwich” as the official and signature sandwich of their city, many foodies have been on the defense to rally against Tampa’s version of the Cuban Sandwich, which in some variations include mayonnaise and salami (wtf?). So we decided to make this week Cuban Sandwich week here on The305 and will give you a new Cuban Sandwich recommendation each day for the next week. So here’s Cuban Sandwich #2….
Numero Dos. The Cuban Sandwich at Enriqueta’s Cafe in Wynwood. Even though Enriqueta’s is world renown for the Pan Con Bistec, their Cuban Sandwich is pretty official. In fact, it may be one of the best Cuban Sandwiches in Miami, or borderline…the best. They have the regular Cuban, which is the traditional Swiss Cheese, Ham, Pork, Mustard and Pickles. But they also have their “Cuban Especial”, which is just that, except, stuffed with croquetas (*insert Homer drool sound effect). So Enriqueta’s is definitely a great spot to hit if you’re in the Downtown and Mid-town area and in the mood for a good ole Sandwiche Cubano.
The Pro’s – The sandwich itself is pretty much perfection, however, the fact that they’ve perfected the art of adding Croquetas to it is quite simply the best thing ever. And you can definitely get a cup of Guarapo to wash it down with.
The Con’s – Other than that the line’s can get long at some times of the day or the limited parking, we’re good. This sandwich is on point. A bit unhealthy (lol), but on-point.
