TASTE TUESDAYS :: You need to try the Churrasco Relleno de Mofongo @ El Rinconcito de Santa Barbara in West Hialeah

Mofongo, for those that don’t know is fried green plantains, that are then chopped up and mashed and usually mixed with pork chunks. Being that I’m Dominican, I tend to hate on any kind of Mofongo that’s made by Puerto Ricans for pure rivalry reasons only (lol). However, El Rinconcito de Santa Barbara, a Puerto Rican restaurant and cafeteria located in West Hialeah serves one of the best non-homemade mofongos I ever had. Maybe because it was prepared in a more Dominican style. But you have to try the Churrasco Relleno de Mofongo version, which is served with a side order (typically moro). Amazing. Its a little heavy, so you can probably split your dish with another person, but it really is amazing. Trust me. Head on over there and try it.
