Long known by Air Jordan sneaker aficionados for his Jordan artwork circa 2006, Dave White has seem to come along way as he now has his very own signature bespoke Air Jordan 1. Originally released as a Gold Toe version (click here to see it) which was limited to 23 pairs and auctioned at the All Star Game in 2011, these are a seemingly rehashed version with a Black Toe look (with a white/black/red combination). Thanks to Dave Frank (the Jordan Brand Art Director) contacting Dave White in 2008, these shoes can be created and have the money go to the Jordan Brand Wings of the Future children & youth’s program. The program is centered on three pillars: education, sport, and creativity.
“The absolute intent was to make something that actually looked animated and dynamic, explosive and alive even when standing still. I wanted the shoe to almost look like it had been dipped in paint and is exploding with energy,” said White in an interview with Sole Collector.
The Dave White x Air Jordan Retro 1 is set to hit retail spots in locally and all around North America, Europe and China this Saturday, February 11th. As part of the celebration that is All-Star Week, the WINGS program will be releasing another run on Friday, February 24th.
