Maybach Music Group
2011 Record Label Of The Year
Look man, if you hate on this then I’m not sure what to tell you. 2011 was the year of Maybach Music Group. After getting that distribution deal with Warner Bros., it was no stopping MMG. Undoubtedly, the hardest working set of guys in 2011 and all of the press, presence and record sales proved it. The roster is pretty lengthy, however, in an individual basis, a lot of them stayed consistent throughout the year – especially with Meek Mill and his list of hit singles (ie. “I’m A Boss, etc) and the successful release of Wale’s MMG debut album. Then you had the Self-Made compilation album, which did pretty well as well for being well, a compilation album. Compilations tend to fail miserably and Self-Made absolutely did not, it was sucessful. And then of course you had Rick Ross who stayed ever present with headlines, freestyles, videos, virals and more throughout the year. If anything, you have to commend a locally based start-up that ended up winning. Props to Rick Ross and the entire Maybach Music Group crew.
