Once again, I headed out to Ricochet Lounge to check out the next act as part of their Music Loves Art series with McDonald’s, who much to everyone’s delight, was serving Big Mac sandwiches and Mac Snack Wraps all night. Nas was up first a couple days ago and last night, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings took to the stage and absolutely tore the house down. I definitely want to thank McDonald’s once again for sponsoring me and allowing me to be one of the few cameras in the building, along with 100-150 people who were checking out the show. It was a real exclusive event, just like the Nas show.
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings bring that funk/soul sound back and keep their stage show grounded to that classic sound of yesteryear. They gave us 45 minutes of nothing but energy. Sharon in the front. And the band in the back. But they performed as one. If you have a chance, check them out live during the next chance you get and listen to their latest album Soul Time.
All in all a great night that ended with a room full of happy fans. I took photos of people eating, enjoying themselves with their friends as well as photos of Sharon and the band. Click below to see all the photos.
