The Finnegan’s Music Festival marks the start of a new era as Finnegan’s River introduces live music to its venue. And in fashion befitting the bar, they’re doing it big! The festival will run all weekend, kicking off in the afternoon with a pool party each day, and running into the wee hours. FMF will take place beginning at 4p.m. on Friday September 2nd, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th, with each day jam-packed with music including six to eight live acts per day plus DJ sets by resident DJ Jammin Jorge and special guests in between performers.
The Downtown outpost opened in 2006 to continue the Finnegan’s Group tradition of neighborhood sports bars where people go to meet their friends that began on Ocean Drive with Finnegan’s Way in 2000. That tradition continued two years later with Finnegan’s 2 on Lincoln Road, and has since expanded beyond the Sunshine State making the move to New Orleans with Finnegan’s Easy in 2008.
The sprawling indoor/outdoor space known as Finnegan’s River, meanwhile, is the group’s largest endeavor to date, boasting five full bars and 400 feet of dock space on the Miami River. The hotspot has become famed for its food, drinks and outdoor ambience, playing host to massive parties and weekend boaters alike. Now they’re putting the space to perhaps its best use still. Festival creator Jerry Pennington, who’s made his living booking some of the most memorable shows in town at many of your favorite live music venues, knows there’s no better way to celebrate that than with a massive blowout. Which is why he’s teamed up with the unrivaled space of Finnegan’s River to bring local live music to an outdoor venue that just begs to be packed with lovers of live performance week in and week out.
The lineup promises to be a prime representation of Miami’s live music scene, as diverse as it is filled with fan favorites. Just a few of the acts already booked for the festival include ArtOfficial, PALO!, Jahfe, Elastic Bond, Ketchy Shuby, Suenalo, ¡MAYDAY!, Rosamora (comprised of El Chino Dreadlion, Phil Maranges and Kenichi Ohme), Conjunto Progreso, Rich Kid Sound System, Oigo, Nag Champayons, Johnny Dread, Fusik, Personal Legend, Don Sha, Lanzallamas Monofonica, Saltwater Grass(Jacksonville) and Xperimento.
