944 Magazine is done. In an other sign that the basis of print media is on its way out, 944 closes down production. The magazine was a national publication with regional editions that served a few top markets such as Phoenix, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Detroit and of course Miami. For example, most of the magazine would be of national stories and interviews, and then it would be sprinkled with local trendsetters, photos and happenings. In the past, they’ve definitely featured a lot of Miami artists, business owners and models in the Miami edition. So its sad to see them go. However, 944 filed for bankruptcy protection last year, so this announcement shouldn’t exactly come as much of a surprise.
The June 2011 issue will be the final issue and is on the streets now for free-99. The Las Vegas version of 944 may still survive in the future, but right now nothing is confirmed.
Similar magazines to keep your trendy luxury fix satisfied are Ocean Drive (of coarse) and the newly founded Plum Magazine.
