Website You Should Know About:

thwordinetown or for short also know as TWIT (lol) is a Miami based site I ran into late last year when I met its founder Jose A. Romero over at Shoe Gallery during Art Basel. The site is very enjoyable for the simple fact that Jose covers alot of trendsetting topics and subjects, while still keeping that urban Miami feel. Jose himself considers himself “influenced by influencers”, but with TheWordInTown, he himself has taken that influencer role himself.

I ran into this Q&A that Jose did to describe himself and his site and it’ll give you a good idea of the vibe he and the site are on. Read below…

Why another blog when there are so many out there: For one thing I don’t believe in competition. I believe there is plenty of opportunity for many more to come and show the world through their individual perceptions of what they see and experience.

Are you a skater: Yes and No! Yes because for a long period of my young life that’s all I did…. As I got older things change the love for the board was always there but I never got to skate again like I once did; however; I respect and understand the pain and joy skaters go through every day. Skateboarding has to be one of the most demanding sports out there…. There is no feeling in the world like learning a new trick. No matter how young or old you may be…

What about sneakers: I’ve been a fan for a long time. I still remember the first pair I bought… I don’t have them. I rode my bike to an Athlete’s Foot that was on Bird Road and 67th avenue in Miami and bought my first pair of NIKE’s. They were some kind of Nike Running shoe. At the time there wasn’t an air bag yet… I’ve looked for the shoe but no luck… After that I had the fever. It wasn’t till much later that I could afford to purchase multiple pairs. I even went through a period of time were I gave lots of my good shoes away… Then I realized I’m in this Sneaker thing “FOR LIFE”. Now I only buy kicks that I find FRESH. Rather than everything that comes out. At one time I would almost get every AF1 that came out. Also all dunks then I moved to SB’s. I never got in to J’s till 2006. That’s when I bought my first pair of 13′s. Now I wear all my kicks… TEAM WEAR YOUR KICKS! Werd!

Fashion: I like it. I like street wear. I like it all! I’m a fan of the culture that we help create. I believe that Sub-Culture creates culture… We are all part of it.

Art and Toys: Art is in the eye of the beholder. I like to see new things. Creation inspires me… Toys are fun no matter how old you are…
