The iPad 2 is finally available today, Friday March 11, 2011, at Apple’s online store. Locally, you can definitely purchase the iPad 2 in person starting at 5Pm at Apple Store and other select retail stores around South Florida and nationwide.
The first iPad was just released last year in April and as a first run of the product, it had its fair share of pros and cons. Nonetheless, Apple still found it necessary to release another iPad. I’ve got to admit, this release has got to have some Apple customers angry as it just seems it was yesterday that the first iPad model was released.
The new iPad 2 promises a smaller, lighter device with the improvements making it 33% thinner then the first iPad (how much thinner can it get!?) and 15% lighter.
It also has a new Dual Core A5 chip rather then the later A4 chip which means faster processor speed and more powerful graphics , up to nine times faster to be exact! It still has the 10-hour battery life ability offered from the original iPad though. And now, the iPad doesn’t just feature a camera on the front for FaceTime, but it also has a camera on the backside with the clear crisp HD quality famous with the Apple products.
As far as price wise, its going to take place of the iPad’s current price of $499 for the least expensive 16GB. The good thing is that Apple reduced the price of the first generation iPad from $499 to $399, so if you haven’t gotten your hands on the first model yet, this might be a good time to as stores are now offering promotions on the older model.
