Weird News :: A GPS device? Helps police find laptop taken from Lil Wayne video set

With the aid of a GPS tracking device, on Friday local Glendora, CA police found and arrested a South El Monte man accused of stealing several items from a crew filming a music video at Citrus College last Thursday night with rapper Porcelain Black.

Glendora police Sgt. Scott Strong said a Louis Vuitton purse, a wallet, tickets to an NBA All-Star Game, and a laptop were taken sometime between 9 p.m. and midnight from a trailer belonging to the crew, which was filming a video for hip-hop artists Lil Wayne and Porcelain Black.

Strong said the laptop was outfitted with a tracking device and officers were able to follow its signal to a home in the 1900 block of Bryce Road in South El Monte.

At the home, police found the stolen items and arrested Marco Negrete, 20, on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property.

Citrus College spokeswoman Paula Green said campus security believes Negrete may have been a backup dancer for the video shoot.

Negrete is being held on $20,000 bail at the Glendora jail and is due for arraignment at the West Covina Courthouse today.
