Young Money Ent / Cash Money Records
2010 Record Company Of The Year
Even though, its extremely confusing to distinguish whether nowadays if Young Money is the main record company or Cash Money or what, the YMCMB conglomerate has shown and proved to be 2010’s top record company(ies) of the year. Not just nationwide, but locally since their homebase is right here in Miami. The year has been tough because their lead artist (and I think CEO???) Lil Wayne was in jail for 8 months of the year. But yet, the year has also been amazing because Drake released his highly successful album Thank Me Later. As did Nicki Minaj who released her highly successful Pink Friday. Hands down the two biggest artists of the year and they came from the Young Money slash Cash Money side of things. Then top things off, Cash Money or Young Money or whatever they’re called, picked up DJ Khaled to officially give him a chance to release his albums via a Major distributor versus an independent. And then lastly, they also brought in Cool And Dre and signed them to a production deal. Overall, YMCMetc have not only shown and proved numbers wise, but they’ve picked up local Miami talent under their umbrella to hopefully take them to the next level.
