The NFL season doesn’t officially start until OchoCinco gets his first fine…well, the season just officially started

(NBCMiami) – Not content with picking up fines for excessive end zone celebrations, Chad Ochocino has been slapped on the wrist by the NFL for a new violation – tweeting from the sidelines.

The flamboyant Cincinnati Bengals wide out received a $25,000 fine for possessing an electronic device and for posting messages on Twitter during his team’s preseason games against the Philadelphia Eagles on August 20, reports ESPN.

According to NFL rules, players are prohibited from posting messages to social media websites starting 90 minutes before kickoff and can only resume after all postgame media obligations have been met.

Ochocinco sent two missives during the game, one at 6:50 p.m. and the other at 9.53 p.m. The kick-off was at 8:07 p.m.

The latter tweet relayed his displeasure with a big hit he took during the game.

“Man Im sick of getting hit like that, its damn preseason [expletive]!,” he wrote. “1day I’m gone jump up and start throwing hay makers, #Tylenolplease.”

If nothing else, Ochocinco seems to have a good grasp of how to use Twitter’s hash tag feature.

He also addressed the fine from the league via Twitter, naturally.

“I’ve been fined by the league a substantial amount of money for tweeting, 1st time twitter hasn’t made me money but cost me money,” he said.

He also seemed to display a sense of contrition for his actions.

“Dear NFL I apologize for tweeting during the game but that was 2 monthsof my Bugatti payments you just took from me, I won’t do it again,” he wrote.
