MIAMI, FL â€“ The Miami HEAT would like to thank all fans for the successful launch of We Want Wade â€“ an interactive, community-wide campaign aimed at keeping six-time All-Star Dwyane Wade in a HEAT uniform. The campaign headquarters, WeWantWade.com, has sustained its success thanks to the participation of fans from all around the world.
With the NBA free agency period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on July 1, the We Want Wade campaign will shift into high gear, conducting activities targeted towards getting Wade to re-sign with the HEAT. The HEAT would like to encourage all fans to stay tuned to WeWantWade.com for news, information updates, new downloadable content and to view the e-mail and video messages submitted by Wade fans. Free agents can officially sign agreements starting at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, July 8.
The launch of WeWantWade.com was both a local and national media phenomenon, with extensive coverage provided by print, radio, television and online media outlets, including, among others, CNN Headline News, ESPN/ESPN.com, USAToday.com, Sports Illustrated, Yahoo!, RealGM and countless other outlets. Since the launch, WeWantWade.com has spawned a flurry of websites and other activities directed at NBA free agents. The following is an overview of some of the highlights and successes thus far of the We Want Wade campaign:
The official Miami HEAT campaign headquarters made its official launch on Thursday, May 13 â€“ receiving an astonishing 200-300 hits per second and briefly causing the servers housing the website to go down. The fan-friendly website has a host of interactive features that allow fans to Tweet (@MiamiHEAT; hashtag #WeWantWade), send e-mail messages, and upload YouTube videos expressing why they want Wade to stay in Miami, plus much more. Fans can also leave voicemail messages on the We Want Wade hotline. To date, WeWantWade.com has received over 1,300 Tweets, 5,900 e-mails messages, and a slew of uploaded videos. The posted videos have garnered over 7,000 views. Over 400 voice messages and counting have been left on the hotline.
We Want Wade Fan Kit
The We Want Wade Fan Kit has everything fans need to show their love and support for Wade. The Fan Kit includes window clings, an oversized placard, rubber wrist bracelet, stickers and more. Over 10,220 Fan Kits have been requested since the campaign’s launch. The following is a demographic breakdown of the Fan Kit requests:

The We Want Wade Fan Kit will begin shipping to fans Tuesday, May 25, with shipments continuing until all requests have been fulfilled. The Fan Kit is only available for Florida residents living in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties. Fans living outside these areas can visit WeWantWade.com to download a digital version of the We Want Wade Fan Kit.
To show their support for Wade, several Miami HEAT corporate partners and South Florida businesses have agreed to produce and distribute We Want Wade oversized placards. Fans can visit one of the following locations for a FREE We Want Wade placard (no purchase necessary) starting Thursday, June 3.

The man who inspired the We Want Wade campaign posted a video himself on Facebook expressing his gratitude for the campaign and its supporters, saying: He â€œappreciates all the support and thoughtful wordsâ€ left by his fans on the website. The video is posted on WeWantWade.com.
PDA For We Want Wade
There are many public displays of affection for the We Want Wade campaign now on display in South Florida, including the signature campaign billboard in downtown Miami on I-95, plus large banners have now been placed on the 36th Street and 79th Street Causeways in Miami and on the Rickenbacker Flyover, also in Miami. Additional billboard and banner displays will be posted in the near future.
