(MIAMI, FL) – Begins At 8 PM • Free And Open To The Public • Features A Bikini Fashion Show. The Miami HEAT have announced that it will host its 2009-10 HEAT Dancers magazine and poster unveiling on the front steps of the AmericanAirlines Arena on Friday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m. The front steps of the arena will be transformed into a scene right out of a nightclub, complete with music and lighting. The event will feature a fashion show, where the four-time “Most Popular Dance Team in the NBA†will be modeling bikinis by Inca Collection, which will be projected onto the three-story high MiamiMediaMesh. The event is free and open to the public and free parking will be available in the P2 arena parking garage while space is available.
For the first time ever, the HEAT Dancers will be featured in a full-color, high-quality magazine format, which will highlight each HEAT Dancer modeling eveningwear fashions on their own individual pages. Included within the magazine will be a pull-out version of the traditional HEAT Dancer poster, with the HEAT Dancers sporting identical bikinis in an “urban oasis†setting. Shot on site at The Epic hotel in downtown Miami, the HEAT Dancer magazine and poster separates the Dancers from the calendar crowd while reaffirming their status as “The Hottest Dance Team in the NBA.â€
All fans attending the November 20 event will receive a free copy of the HEAT Dancer magazine and poster and the HEAT Dancers will be available for autographs following the fashion show activity. In addition, the HEAT Dancer poster will be distributed to all fans in attendance at the Boston Celtics vs. Miami HEAT game on Sunday, November 29. Thereafter, the HEAT Dancer magazine will only be available at the Miami Hoops Gear retail outlet for $10.00.
The HEAT Dancers are the league’s premier dance team. USA Today heralded the HEAT Dancers as “cutting edge,†“well-drilled and hip.†They have been featured on popular TV programs such as ESPN’s The Season, MTV Hits, and MTV’s My Super Sweet 16. The HEAT Dancers remain the only non-host city dance team invited to perform during the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities, wowing the audience in Houston during All-Star 2006. The HEAT Dancers were even celebrated on ESPN.com’s “Page 2.†Gregg Easterbrook writes that “their allure is an indicator of a power shift — the best-looking beach babes now congregate in South Florida, not California.†Their appeal is global, having recently traveled to and performed in China, Istanbul, London, Germany, the British Virgin Islands, and France.
Dancing for the HEAT also proves to be a gateway to the entertainment world, as several former HEAT Dancers have achieved stardom. A group of former HEAT Dancers, Traci Young (2002-09), Karelix Alicea (2002-06; 2007-08), Gina Francis (2004-08), Christina Pagan (2007-08), and Michelle Burgos (2007-08), were the all-female dance group, “Fly Khicks,†on Season 3 of the popular MTV reality dance competition series Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew. Susie Garcia (2002-08) was one of the top 20 finalists on the 2008 season of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance? Jamie Ruiz (2003-08) stepped into the spotlight on the popular CW show Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious and now works in California as part of its Pussycat Dolls’ act.
Johanna Gomez (2002-04), former co-host of the mun2 show fusion, currently serves as an entertainment reporter for WPLG-ABC 10. Brooke Long (2005-06) is Suitcase No. 15 Model for NBC’s hit show Deal or No Deal and Layla El (2004-06) was the winner of the “2006 WWE $250,000 Diva Search.†Jessica Sutta (1999-02) is a vocalist for the pop group “Pussycat Dolls†and was featured in the music videos of Will Smith, Beyoncé Knowles and Gloria Estefan. Trista Rehn (2000-02) was the star of the popular ABC reality series The Bachelorette, and has appeared in a number of other TV shows including The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars and Fear Factor.
