PS-14 has been a mainstay in the Overtown area for the last couple years. In the hip-hop side of things, we’ve had tons of shows that we’ve gone to at PS14. And we’re sad to say that after October 31st, 2009 – PS14 will be no more. Tonight will be one of their final hip-hop themed shows featuring acclaimed emcee, Canibus (click here for flyer).

As far as the closing, the Miami New Times reports that owners of PS14 chose to not renew their lease on their space and will be pursing other efforts. Financial troubles are not to blame – according to co-owner Barbara Basti, the venue just seemed to run its course when compared to the other projects they had on their end (including the newly opened Ecco Lounge & Restaurant in Downtown Miami).
