You know what, ya’ll can hate on Benzino all you want, but I can’t front, he pays taxes in Dade County so I gotta show some respect to his movement. Plus, I met him a couple times at different events down here, and he’s always been cool. So either way, he’s been down in Miami for quite a few years now and he’s back at it on the hip-hop tip with his new group 1st 48, which features Cognito (wow, remember “Big Bank”?) and Monsta, who is claimed to be Trina’s little brother.
The video is for a song called “No One”. Directed by The ICU and produced by Buggah Da Govannah’s On Point Entertainment. It was shot all around Miami at what I assume is Tamiami Airport, under I-95 and by a strip club. And according to Buggah, the video almost got shut down for not having permits while shooting in Liberty City. Spotted via Jacob with New Times’ Crossfade

Another leaked record from Ruthless. I was with Ace a couple days ago on a photoshoot I did with him and he was surprised this leaked a little early, but is rolling with it either way – its the official second single of Ruthless and the video for it will be LEGENDARY. Best believe that if they stick to what andwhere they told me they were shooting this at – its gonna be crazy. Listen below…

I’m not crazily into Miami’s art scene, but I know a bit to get around. But one thing is for sure – Tatiana Suarez has definitely been one of my favorite artists that I’ve seen down here. I believe she’s in New York at the moment, but either way, her work is extremely detailed and draws you in immediately. And that can be a result of the seemingly trademark eyes that she embeds in her subjects. We connect with each other via our eye contact and I think she uses that little bit of human nature to her benefit to draw her audience into her pieces and keeps them reeled in with it as well. Check more of Tatiana over at www.tatisuarez.com

We posted this back in February, but we had to repost in celebration of seeing Miami-based Last Rights Clothing, now available on KarmaLoop.Com. This has been buzzing since their appearance at Magic in February and I’m glad to see this come into fruition. Get that money fellas!!!
But yeah, this is the commercial that gained controversial headlines last year in June of 2008, where local Miami authorities thought that there was a drug drop-off from a low-flying plane in broad daylight over the waters in South Florida (click here for that story) when it was actually just the filming of this commerical. YOU NEED TO WATCH IT!!!
We The Best. This premiered on Khaled’s mix last Monday on Memorial Day, featuring an all star cast. Here’s the CDQ. Also, photo above taken by me a couple years back at a Trick Daddy video shoot.

These will be sold in limited quantities so I can almost expect that you WILL NOT be able to get these anywhere. But they’re extremely dope. They take cues from the Nike LIVESTRONG campaign and have a yellow/black colorbase, but use a “For The Love Of Money” theme with currency from all over the world decorated around the design. Too dope. Spotted over at NiceKicks.

Mickey Munday, Danny (SG) and Michael Madd – Photography By DRO
This past Saturday was part of the internationally known Urban Beach Weekend that takes over Miami Beach every year during Memorial Day Weekend festivities. Well, on the other side of the bridge in an ever changing Downtown Miami landscape, Shoe Gallery took initiative to put on an in-store industry mixer of sorts entitled the Shoe Gallery Industry Hour. Its main purpose was to serve as a networking event for upcoming artists in the Miami area – as well as an outlet to have their music played in front of various industry insiders and celebrities like DJ Clark Kent (Producer for Jay-Z, Biggie, etc), Mickey Munday (of Cocaine Cowboys fame), Drop (Super Engineer), Michael Madd, Safe (Mi Gente Clothing), Vito, Ball Greezy and tons of other guests in attendance. The artists in attendance that had their music played included Fuze, Blaze, Kiluy, Nappy, Rem & O, Primo, and YD to name a few. All are talented individuals. Check the photos below…

We’re usually up-to-date with our Mayday! news, but according to the Miami Herald’s Music Blog, Mayday! has lost a group member – their bassist, Primo. Apparently in his absence, percussionist Gianni Cash, has moved on to cover a second set of keyboards to play the bass synths on the keys. A group “spokesman” made clear that ”Lots of new exciting things [are] going on. Lots of new shows, new music, and videos.” You know that regardless, they gotta keep on going at it – because these are some talented individuals. Look out for that EP coming soon!
Amaya Swimwear has pretty much been a staple in music videos and photoshoots for the last few years. And the woman who started it all, Lila Nikole Rivera, deserves every bit of notoriety. Bossip caught up with the South Florida native to talk about what’s new with her and what’s going on in her line of work. When asked to describe what the Amaya Swimwear “woman” is, Lila said…
“…The Amaya Swimwear woman is a very strong fashion forward leader. A woman is comfortable in her own skin and has embraced her curves and silhouette. She is a woman who demands attention when she walks into a room….”
