The Orchard (NASDAQ: ORCD), a global leader in music and video entertainment today announced that following the recent Gold Certification of Pitbull’s single “Krazy,” the hip-hop artist has been awarded the newly-created “Latin Digital Download Artist of the Year” by Billboard. Other nominated artists in this category, some of Latin Music’s top stars, included Aventura, Enrique Iglesias, and Shakira. The award was presented to Pitbull at the Billboard Latin Music Award show on April 23rd in Miami.
The success of Pitbull in the Latin digital market comes as a result of an aggressive promotional campaign by The Orchard, who handled all digital marketing activities for Pitbull. Supported by Team Pitbull’s outside radio promotion, The Orchard managed digital and mobile marketing activities around “Krazy.” The single shot to No. 19 on Billboard’s hot digital tracks, and at iTunes, it notched the No. 1 slot in Latin sales (as well as #4 in hip-hop and #16 overall). To date, “Krazy” has been downloaded more than 700,000 times.
“We promoted not only ‘Krazy’, but Pitbull, a hip hop artist whose unique music style crosses many genres, including pop, hip-hop, and Latin”, commented Jaclyn Ranere, head of marketing for The Orchard. “Working with our Team Pitbull friends, we are pleased to see Pit honored and expect great things from Team Pitbull and Sony/Polo Grounds in the future.”

If you’re a hustler of any type and just a person with a vision and a dream. This will truely inspire you. We posted a couple of Jeff’s shirts that are available at Shoe Gallery now, and one of our readers posted this video on the forums. And wow, its awesome. Its 45 minutes long, but you don’t have to actually “watch”, you can just listen to the audio if you’d like – as you go about your day. Definitely worth it!
I’m pretty positive that I haven’t worn a pair of Reeboks since I was like like 6 years old. But I saw these and saw the New York Knicks colorway and…I had to cop them. And for $99, you can’t beat the price over at Dr Jay’s.
2 Girls And A Cupcake – I don’t have many words except that these cupcakes are delicious! Eileen & Evelyn have put together a great product with a LONG list of variety. Its all made to order and if you’d like, delivered right to your doorstep. I had a chance to sample a couple of these not too long ago…and one word, AMAZING. Do yourself a favor and call them now and order 12 of their Oye Come Va flavor. Its a vanilla cupcake layered with guava and then topped with a cream cheese filling. You will not be disappointed. They’ve caught the attention of many local tastemakers and are on the rise to be one of Miami’s hidden treasures. Check their website @ www.2girlsandacupcake.info for their entire menu and feel free to place order via email or via phone. Everything you need to know is on their website.
Also, check back soon as we will have an interview with the ladies of 2 Girls And A Cupcake posted on The305.com soon enough!

Last Wednesday, I was invited by Sí TV to cover a rehearsal of the Billboard Latin Music Awards at the UM BankUnited Center in Coral Gables. I got an opportunity to take a couple photos and spend the day with model Lisa Morales, who’s one of the finalist on Sí TV’s Model Latina Miami. We got a chance to see the rehearsals of the show – from the red carpet, to some of the performances. We ran into the host of the show, Alan Tacher, as well as latin singer Paulina Rubio and actress Carmen Villalobos. View some of the photos below…
And remember to check out Lisa and the rest of models on Model Latina Miami, when Season 2 premieres August 2nd on Sí TV.

Big Pun and Fat Joe performing “Twins” back in 1998 in Miami. Too Dope!!! Godfree was holding out on this video from me! Lol @ the “dead in the middle of Little Italy” line – its like barely audible, yet you know exactly when it drops – classic! Spotted over at RR who spotted it via MissInfo who got it from Godfree from Gamertag Radio
“This show at The Temple nightclub was called “South Bronx Invades South Beach” created by DJ Khaled back in March 6, 1998. I was one of the promoters, thats why how I managed to bring my video camera to the club at that time. On this night, the lineup featuring Big Pun, Fat Joe, Cuban Link, DJ Tony Touch & also DJ Craze (the only solo DJ in history to claim the World DMC Champion trophy 3 times consecutively.) In this clip, Fat Joe performs some classic joints like “Flow Joe”, “I Shot Ya” and my favorite “Twins Deep Cover” with Big Pun. This was before Pun’s 1st album and you can hear the crowd go crazy when he comes out.”
Also, here are more tidbits in regards to the video courtesy of Godfree…
- T.C. Islam (Afrika Bambaataa’s son) was the host & The Universal Zulu Nation and were the security for the show. You’ll see them rocking orange shirts.
- Before DJ Khaled dropped “We The Best,” this was the first & only time I had seen Khaled doing turntables tricks in front of a crowd. Maybe it was because DJ Craze was there.. not sure.
- Tony Touch had long hair.
- DJ Khaled was on a pirate station at that time before joining 99 Jamz. The station was called Mixx 96 FM.
- Big Pun took breaks throughout the show by sitting down off-stage between songs.

Shoe Gallery just received a full run of the new Staple Design collection designed by creator of the brand, Jeff Staple. There are quite a few designs, including the “Highlighter” series which features a simple t-shirt covered with a highlighter-enfused image of either Jay-Z in pink, Nas in yellow or Biggie in green – meshed with a stem of the classic lyrics in a small font belonging to the emcee of whichever version of the shirt you choose. The Biggie version of the series is definitely the one I liked the most because that green just pops. And with the combination of classic Biggie lyrics, you can’t go wrong. These retail for about $34, pick them up today at Shoe Gallery, today.
And make sure to ask them about one of the other series of shirts they received by Staple, entitled the “A=3MC” series which again features three shirts, each one of Jay-Z, Nas and Biggie – but features a rare and almost never-before-seen photo of each of them screen-printed onto the shirt. Those are definitely a must-have as well.
Picking up right from where filming “All I Really Want” left off, Gil Green, 305 Films and Derick G headed back to Miami (from Colombia) and almost immediately started right on the shooting schedule. And one of the first videos up was the video for Ace Hood’s new single “Overtime”, which features Akon and T-Pain. This video was shot entirely in Miami, just a day after Ace Hood’s photoshoot that we mentioned last week. And in one of the photos, you can see Ace Hood rocking a “Million Dollar Mack” shirt by Voler La Rue (more info on that shirt coming later). Either way, click below for the entire gallery of behind the scenes shots taken by 305-based photographer Derick G.

Parable is a mainstay in Miami’s diverse hip-hop scene and I’ve followed his music early on since the Soul What? days like 6 years ago. And we’ve had tons of mutual friends along the way. He’s also picked up national and international notoriety via his winning streaks in many emcee battle circuits throughout the years. And everything he’s done – he’s done to represent them all too familiar numbers…that 305. Well, Parable is bidding farewell to Miami for the time being and headed on a tour around the U.S. and hopefully the world. And in celebration of his continued and flourishing success, we wanted to post this mini Untitled EP of some of his work for your listening pleasure. Its brief, but hopefully it won’t be the last you hear from Parable. Good luck with everything homie…
I’m a little bit biased since as most of you may know, I’m completely obsessed with Kim, but I think she looks hot. Granted, the last thing I’m looking at is her hair…but yo, she’s perfect either way. Photo via Accidental Sexiness / Bauer Griffin

I passed by Shoe Gallery yesterday and saw these just chillin’ in the cut in between a couple new releases. Even though these are a couple weeks old, there are still a few left at Shoe Gallery. These are part of the Lance Armstrong and Nike collaboration, “LIVESTRONG” project that was set up to ”raise awareness and money for the war against cancer.” These are definitely dope running shoes and upon first glance and seeing them in person – I could barely tell it was a shoe by Nike. But its ridiculously good-looking. Definitely make sure to go to Shoe Gallery and see it for yourself. Here are a couple words about the shoes courtesy of NiceKicks (where I also got the picture from as well):
“Designed with a Lunar bottom and a Nike Free Everyday upper, The Nike Lunar Everyday combines two of Nike’s most innovative technologies. The Nike Lunar Everyday is a well-cushioned everyday running shoe for longer runs, offering a great ride. The breathable upper mesh of the Nike Lunar Everyday is reinforced with synthetic overlays to add maximum support. No-sew tip construction provides less irritation. Internal heel counter and plush foam package deliver maximum comfort. Utilizing the innovation of Lunarlite foam, the shoe helps protects the foot on long distance runs, distributing the pressure patterns more evenly across the foot.”

MTV on their 305 filming spree, catches up with The Clipse on Collins Ave on Miami Beach to talk about the new single with Kanye (which includes cover artwoirk by KAWS):
Rick Ross & Kanye – Listen (“Doin My Job” original)
Produced By Kanye West
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
Here’s a song Ross recorded back in 2002, produced by Kanye West. It was actually recorded for the 2002 version of Port Of Miami over a beat that later became T.I.’s for his 2003 Trap Musik album. From what I know, this is one of the reasons that sparked a small beef between T.I. and Ross for a little while (I could be wrong because that’s hearsay) because T.I. eventually ended up snatching the beat. Either way, I remember this song got leaked on a DJ EFN mixtape - and I remember that Slip-N-Slide was fuming and mad that the song leaked a little prematurely. And also, you hear in the song “99 Jamz show me some love.” This was at a time when Ross and 99 Jamz were at odds and had a little bit of a scuffle over airplay issues and if I remember correctly, 99 Jamz made it a point to NOT play any Ross records at that time. Later that changed as “Hustlin’”, Ross’ breakthrough single, was debuted on 99 Jamz via DJ Khaled’s nightshow and the rest is history.
But yeah, the photo above is Ross without his trademark beard. I took that photo when I was like 18 and was chillin’ with Ross at Poe Boy studios back in early 2003 with Brisco, E-Class, Gunplay and the entire Poe Boy fam. At that time, Ross had already done a little bit of ghostwriting around the industry and was patiently waiting for his album to come out. The 2002 version of Port Of Miami was AMAZING! I got to listen to it at Slip-N-Slide’s offices one day. But that version never saw the light of day. It took four years for the actual retail version of Port Of Miami (2006) to come out and that was a completely different album from the one in 2002. But I guess things happen for a reason and it was worth the wait as Ross went on to be one of Miami’s top selling artists.

This was an unofficial remix done by local emcee, Garcia back in early 2006 to popular Kelly Clarkson song, “Behind These Hazel Eyes”. Garcia’s flow and voice combine to make this one helluva remix. I still play this remix till this day on the iPod. Listen and/or download it below…

Scott Storch isn’t dead. He’s not in jail. The famed producer isn’t even on the run from the police, as you may have heard through the grapevine over the past year. Storch has been focusing on rebuilding his life, because he did, in fact, hit rock bottom.
Lost in a three-year cocaine-abusing haze, he lost more money than most people reading this story will see in five lifetimes: $30 million. Yes, he blew almost his entire fortune on coke, cars, houses, lavish trips, partying and a series of what he calls “poor judgment decisions.” Earlier this month, Storch was arrested for grand theft auto for allegedly failing to return a Bentley he’d leased in 2006. And last year, Storch hit legal trouble after reportedly falling behind on both his child-support payments and his property taxes.
But he has come out of his white-powder fog. The producer says he is in recovery, and, as people who love his music will be elated to hear, he’s back making music. On Wednesday night, MTV News caught up with the Grammy winner, who at one time could do no wrong in the studio as he supplied classic beats, not mere hits, for people like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Fat Joe and Beyoncé.
“I’m taking it back to square one,” he said, sitting in a Miami studio. The boards in the factory displayed his name and his publishing company, Tuff Jew.
“Just taking it day by day,” the producer said of his life now. “I haven’t won the war. It’s not like something you can just fix and it’s just gone. Addiction is a disease, and I have to constantly battle it. I feel so much better and have more clarity, especially in the studio. It’s cool. It’s been a really productive period. … With the help of my publisher TVT, I’ve had the chance to woodshed and come up with a whole new vibe. I’m very happy right now.”

Damon Winter / The New York Times
The last week has been full of excitement with tons of things going on up and around the city including the Latin Billboard Awards and all kinds of parties on and throughout the week that have been poppin’ off. Here’s a quick run of news bites…
1) Rick Ross in the New York Times – Ricky makes it into the New York Times. Check out this legendary interview with the NYC based publication. The photo taken for the story is also pretty dope (pictured above) – Click here to read it.
2) DTR Sales update – Rick Ross is slated to sell about 150,000 copies of his third studio album, Deeper Than Rap – and pretty much ensuring his third straight #1 album. Asher Roth will most likely come in second with about 80,000 sold.
3) Ace Hood serving that second Def Jam album – Ace Hood has been quite busy as of late. Word is he was busy at hand doing a promotional album shoot this past Tuesday in Miami. He was also filming the video to his new single yesterday (Wednesday) with Akon and T-Pain – directed by Gil Greezy. More details coming soon…
4) 305 INK – Chris Nunez, most notable from the popular reality show, Miami Ink was recently interviewed by Format Magazine. Its a great interview that gives insight to what he’s been up to since the show stopped production. Click Here to read it
5) MTV NEWS making their rounds in The 305 – It seems that MTV News is working on a special series around Miami hip-hop artists as their cameras have been spotted doing interviews with Ted Lucas, Shonie, Pitbull, Cool-N-Dre, Rick Ross and others. Most likely, this will be for a Memorial Day Weekend segment or what not, but only time will tell. We already saw a portion of their Rick Ross segment leak earlier today. We’ll keep you posted…
Shout outs to Red Eyezz, Dada, Custom Whipz magazine, Lisa Morales (from the upcoming season of Model Latina) and the good people over at SiTV.
